Point Loma Nazarene University is conducting a search for a Chief Information Officer. The CIO is responsible for providing vision and leadership in the development and implementation of the institution's information technology programs. This person will lead the university in planning and implementing enterprise information systems in support of the university's mission. Responsibilities: - Provide vision, leadership, strategic planning and coordination of information technology, media, networking and telecommunications to a diverse group of stakeholders. - Leadership to departmental personnel (either directly or through direct reports) including the selection, training, development and evaluation of all Information Technology staff. - Support existing operations of the Student Information Systems (SIS) group. - Develop a strong management team to meet strategic goals and improve customer service participating fully with other campus leaders in advancing the University's mission. - Assist campus users in the identification and development of technological solutions to meet their functional needs including the implementation of determined solutions. - Develop and maintain an effective system support for day-to-day technology and telecommunication needs of users. - Establish and maintain an appropriate level of training for all users. - Foster a customer service-oriented environment within Information Technology Services. - Develop and carry out appropriate procedures to insure the integrity of institutional data. - Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures. - Prepare and administer computing and telecommunication budgets to ensure effective use of available resources. - Establish and maintain positive long-term relationships with technology vendors. - Other responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications: - Demonstrated visionary leadership and managerial abilities, including people and task management. - Advanced skills in planning, communication and management. - Significant experience administering and/or implementing information and telecommunications technology including a senior level-leadership position involving accountability for and successful implementation of strategic initiatives. - Experience in a higher education environment is highly desirable. - Experience overseeing the operation of Student Information Systems (SIS) (preferably Jenzabar CX) is preferred. - Experience in database, local network environments is required. - A solid background in fiscal management, long-term planning, and the development and implementation of IT policies. - Ability to exercise critical human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with faculty, staff, students and external contacts. - Understanding of and commitment to the spiritual mission of Point Loma Nazarene University. - Ability to delegate, support, and motivate staff to achieve maximum performance in their positions. - Demonstrated commitment to quality and customer-oriented provision of service. - Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including public speaking skills.
